OPENING: "Ginger Bruner – Unnatural Landscapes"  is an  exploration of a self-imposed compulsion with light, space, neon and gold leaf by an artist who has been observing the Las Vegas landscape for over three decades. . . In “Unnatural Landscapes,” Bruner, a fellow arts blogger, will use photography to expand the idea of what makes a visual document. . . . Her other practice as a musician, to be specific the tuba, is bound to influence visual rhythms you don’t expect to experience. . . .Opens July 25 and runs through August 24 at Winchester Cultural Center Gallery. Opening Reception on Friday, July 28 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.

UNLV Department of Art announces the slate of speakers for the 2017 Visiting Artist Lecture series. From the release:

The UNLV Visiting Artist Lecture Series features a diverse array of some of the most compelling artists and thinkers working in the art world today. This important program brings both established and emerging artists to campus to discuss their work in public lectures, and to offer individual critiques to our BFA and MFA students. This program has established itself as an invaluable resource for UNLV students and the public alike. The primary mission of the Visiting Artists Lecture Series is to educate, inspire and foster a greater understanding and appreciation of contemporary art through visual presentations and discourse.

The Fall Visiting Artist lectures are held Thursday evenings at 7pm in the Barrick's auditorium. Sponsored by the UNLV Department of Art, there is no charge to attend.
