"Big news" wrote Aurore Giguet this morning on her social media. The director of UNLV's Marjorie Barrick Museum accepted an offer the post of Executive Director for the Everhart Museum in Scranton, Pa. Her last day will be June 15 and she uses the news to encourage the art community to attend the reception for "FIVE" this Saturday. "It will be my last event here."

"The museum now holds more than 200 contemporary works belonging to it and the Las Vegas Art Museum, and more than 2,000 works and artifacts in the cultural collection devoted to Mesoamerica and the American Southwest.  'The museum is in a more positive space now and has a strong future,' Giguet said, adding that the exhibition calendar is set for the next three years and that the museum’s 50th anniversary next year brings a goal to acquire 50 more works."

The Everhart Museum has picked a museum world veteran to lead its daily operations.
Following a national search, the museum’s board of trustees announced the hiring of Aurore Giguet as its new executive director.

Ms. Giguet officially assumes her duties on July 1. She takes over for Cara Sutherland, who resigned in March.

“I am excited for the future of the Everhart Museum and the opportunity to champion and lead a museum with such history,” Ms. Giguet said in a statement. “I plan on focusing on the overall mission of the museum, its financial sustainability, and I’m looking forward to collaborating with the community.”
