Pared de Frida at Casa Don Juan. LAs Vegas, NV. July 6, 2014.
FIELD NOTE: The socialization process of covering murals gives me a cultural obligation to acknowledge Frida Kahlo’s birth date. It’s today, July 6, 1907. It's made easier by Casa Don Juan, a Mexican restaurant in the 18b, the Arts District of Las Vegas. A wall is filled with Kahlo photos and chotskis, a collection that began when family-based ownership watched "Frida," the 2002 bio-pic with Salma Hayek as Kahlo, and Alfred Molina as the husband/lover/antagonist, muralist Diego Rivera.
