MFA candidates surveyed the space in August.
CATCHING UP: The band of merry UNLV MFA Fine Art students are exhibiting works at Sahara West Library’s cyclopean gallery space through January 10, 2016. Opening night for "EXPANDED" is Friday, November 13. I am in the show with a small example of how I plan to approach text + image works. Come see it. Critique at will.
OTHER UNLV EXHIBITIONS: There are only a few days left for “Through Windows, Through Curtains, Call on Us: Contemporary Cuban Art” at The Beam. It closes November 14. From Kristen Peterson's review in Las Vegas Weekly:
JK Russ "The Source" 2015. Collage detail.
“Kveck, Russ & Stellmon: Break Ups & Tear Downs” continues at The Barrick until January 23, 2016. From Dawn-Michelle Baude observations in the Las Vegas Weekly:
COLLEGE OF SOUTHERN NEVADA: Gary Marx "Past and Present" runs through November 25.
LOW IMPACT PR: At Nevada State College, timed for the installation of art on the walls of two new campus buildings, the first alum show is on the books. It's called "Paint This Desert" and uses images from this blog's coverage of murals and street art in Las Vegas. Curated by Angela Brommel. Runs until Winter Break.
Above: Krystal Ramirez “I Want to See More Brown Bodies” from 2017 will be reassembled at UNLV’s Barrick Museum of Art in Spring 2018.
