Get the word out. Clark County Nevada is looking for a Poet Laureate. A call for candidates to promote poetry “as an art form and a medium for inspirational public commentary” was sent out today. The two-year position was approved by Clark County Commission in 2014 and the appointed poet will hold court for two-years beginning June 1, 2015. From the release:
Requirements: To be considered for the position, a poet must reside in Clark County, be at least 18 years of age and be available for public activities throughout the term of service. A poet may be self-nominated or nominated by others.
Cynics will ask why the Las Vegas area would qualify itself to have a Poet Laureate. They forget the city is a rich literary prompt.
