HOLIDAY EVENING: On Friday the annual UNLV MFA Open Studios Group Exhibition marked the end of the semester with tours of studios, and the chance to purchase seasonal items. In case you don't know, or can't tell by the roof line and temporary banner with a repurposed logo, this was a former Carl's Jr. It sits at Maryland Parkway and Harmon, across the street from UNLV, and was converted into work space for graduates in 2013.

GOOD TIMING: The next day the official invitation for new candidates was released. "The Department of Art at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) invites applicants for its Master of Fine Arts studio art program. Full fellowships plus stipend are awarded upon matriculation for the duration of our three-year program. " More information on the program and to start the application process, click on this.
ADD UNLV: Expanded, the UNLV MFA Fine Art Exhibition, continues at The Studio @ Sahara West Library (9600 W. Sahara Ave.) until January 10. Library hours are Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information call (702) 507-6222.
