FIELD NOTES: In July paperboyo made an social media splash when the Instagram artist changed the former La Concha Motel lobby into Marilyn Monroe’s dress. He just ended a trip to California and left behind a paper shadow portfolio with Los Angeles landmarks. My interview with the British air tagger is posted at LA Observed.
ADDED NOTE: The American Institute of Architects awarded its highest honor to Paul Revere Williams--posthumously. Williams is the first black architect honored with an AIA Gold medal. His nearly 3,000 designs include the La Concha Motel lobby, now the entrance to the Neon Museum. Williams died in 1980.
