MUSICAL INTERLUDE: The late Alan Lawson wrote arrangements for a night life-jazz-influenced "The Nutcracker" and it was performed at Winchester Cultural Center as a goodbye. From the Las Vegas Review Journal preview of the concert:
And so they played. Lawson's arrangments had the bounce of an old-school Las Vegas vibe, a Rat-Pack-Nutcrack so to speak. Added at the last minute was another piece arranged by Lawson; "Oh Danny Boy" for classical strings. It ended the Saturday afternoon concert on the right note in a house of friends, family, plus some local musicians on their way to an evening gig, and who brought their instruments with them into the theater.
